In-Class Today: October 2

The following activities took place in class today:

1) Proofreading Practice: "All Creatures Great and Small," Day 2.

2) Reviewed expectations for revising and finalizing "Model after Mango" vignette drafts. To be revised for homework.

3) Introduced and added to class Literature Card decks terminology related to the analysis of characterization: characterization, character traits, indirect characterization, direct characterization, dynamic/round character, static/flat character.

4) Discussed the relationship between the book The House on mango Street by Sandra Cisneros and the 2005 film, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. We then watched the first 60 minutes of the film and completed a graphic organizer on which students identified four behaviors for each of the main characters (Tibby, Lena, Carmen and Bridget) and what character traits is indirectly revealed by said action.
Homework:
a) Revise all three "Model after Mango" vignettes.
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.

Read Up and Write On!
