In Class Today: 9/16

The following activities took place in class today:

1) Proofreading Practice: "Dr. Spark"

2) Unit theme and Essential question introduced and vocabulary necessary fro clear understanding defined: identity, vignette, sensory language

3) Examples for specific figure language terms reviewed and examples from rap and poetry offered: onomatopoeia, metaphor, simile, personification, alliteration

4) Student copies of The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros distributed.

5) Reading assignment calendars distributed and the first four vignettes are assigned along with the expectations for reading journal entries.
Homework:
a) The House on Mango Street reading assignment 1 along with reading journal entries for each vignette read.
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.
